OUR "APPY" PROGRAM

Quite a while ago, we decided to try and improve the "small" appaloosa" horses. We bought several jet black mares and bred them to our frost appy stallion REBEL. He gave us lovely black fillies with nice straight legs, good even teeth, and gentle lovely dispositions but no color except jet black. However, they are half appy and better girls than their dams. In addition, we also purchased several young fillies, raised them to maturity and bred them in 2007 to a loud leopard appy stallion SMOKER. The first results on the ground in 2008 were quite exciting - SPARKLE and JACK - both appys. In 2009, SMOKER gave us CANDY, an appy, and three blacks CINDER ELLA, MISSY and MR COOL. The other black fillies we had from REBEL are older now and we bred them in 2011 to our new stallion addition - SPOTTED ILLUSION who we acquired in April 09. We also bred JACK 2010 and got the lovely pintaloosa filly MI AMORE this spring. ILLUSION also produced two appt colts ROCKSTAR out of DIVA (appropriate name) and HANDSOME out of FRECKLES. The experiment is in full swing and getting quite exciting. Here are some of the major players.

In April 2009, SPOTTED ILLUSION came from Colorado. In 2010 he joined the breeding program and was very excited to get several quality mares. The results started appearing in May 2011.
ILLUSION or DICK as we call him, came to us a a 2 year old.
He is now 4 and produced 2 beautiful foals in 2011..

FRECKLES, is a a daughter of JOHNSTONS CALICO CHIEF. She boasts 8 appalossas in her pedigree and has enough good genes in her to have produced the beautiful reserve world champion multicolor mare MINI MIA.

APPY LUCY is a great granddaughter of WARNERS LITTLE APACHE. Her sire is RUNNING CREEKS DOTS A MEGA BUCKS. Bought as a weanling filly and raised here, LUCY has produced the lovely TAILWINDS SPARKLE PLENTY, and the black filly MISSY out of a fine leopard sire named IMPRINTS U BET I GOT SPOTS (SMOKER).

CHICKADEE RIDGE SENSATIONAL DIVA
DIVA was our 2007 Christmas present. A truly lovely girl, she is a grandaughter of LITTLE KINGS BIONIC BUCKEROO but is truly an appy in every way. Her appy pedigree includes HIDDEN MEADOWS MOON DUST, SHADOW OAKS FRECKLES and LEGENDARYS BULLET as well as BARIMORE NAPLOEON and NAPOLEONS IMPOSTER. With such an extensive pedigree, we still can expect great things from her in the future.

CANDICETTA came to us this summer from Ontario. She is a lovely 5 year old few spot black appy mare and is 30.75" tall. She took to the appys right away, checked out the boys and moved right in with the other mares. She is very quiet and gentle and with her pedigreed appy background should be a good mare for us.

REBEL,almost totally black when we bought him, colored after 3 years. He brought us desireable genes from TOYHORSE DOMINO, TOYHORSE ERMINETOES and the little known, but beautiful TSCHINOUK WARRIOR. All his boys foaled here are appys, and all his girls are blacks. The mares ,now 3, have been bred our ILLUSION.
 
IMPRINTS U BET I GOT SPOTS (SMOKER) brought us genes from DON RICARDO of KILVERSTONE,and MENELEK times 3 by way of LUCKY FOUR SPOTS U BET. SMOKER has sired SPARKLE, JACK, and YDNAR for us. We will always be extremely grateful to IMPRINT for allowing us to breed to him for some excellent foals.
