Even the best sire in the world is rendered useless without being bred to good quality mares. We have strived for years to obtain or produce mares with those desireable characteristics (temperament, conformation, hereditary genes and future promise) that may produce good quality appaloosa foals. Most of our mares are now either appaloosa mares or black mares (and that means true black and not dark brown or blackish) sired by an appaloosa stallion. We also wish to acknowledge the enormous contribution from Randy McGowan and the late Darcy Broughton of IMPRINT MINIATURES who sold us GOLDS LITTLE NUGGET who produced many fine foals for us. They also allowed us to breed to their excellent appaloosa stallion YOU BET I GOT SPOTS (SMOKER). He sired TAILWINDS Sparkle, Ydnar, Appy Jack, Eye Candy, Cinder Ella, and Mr. Cool. Appaloosa mares MINI MIA, her mom FRECKLES, DIVA and APPY LUCY have already produced Tailwinds appaloosa foals. Jellybean is a black mare who has produced several appaloosa foals. Esmeralda, Alberta and Ophelia are all black mares out of the appy sire REBEL. They are all bred to our appy stud SPOTTED ILLUSION for next year.

In 2011, Illusion produced his first foals Hansome and Rockstar - both appaloosa. EXCELLENT. YIPPEE... Our APPY JACK also produced MI AMORE, a pintaloosa filly. Maiden Mares bred for 2012 include appys SPARKLE PLENTY and CANDICETTA. We also have several other mares with interesting possibilites bred for the first time. They are: TREASURE ANNIE, a buckskin bred to APPY JACK, and PIKABOO, a dapple bred to ILLUSION. 2012 should be very, VERY interesting. Their photos and stats are below.

TREASURE is a fine 3 yr old buckskin mare out of our great stallion NUGGET. She is a very nice mare 31 1/2" tall and is bred for 2012.

PIKABU is a lovely dapple mare 31.75". She is out of our 27" stallion KENNY and our mare PIKABU (pokey). She is 5 and is the same type dapple mare as the mother of SMOKER. It will be very interesting to see the results of breeding to her to ILLUSION

ALBERTA is 1 of 3 pitch black REBEL daughters. She is a 5 year old 32" black mare. She is a very active mare, always interested in everything and up for anything. Her dam is a B&W pinto mare named SHYANNE who was our boss mare for years.

ESMERALDA is 2 of 3 pitch black REBEL daughters. She is 32" and 5 years. She is sweet shy girl and very quiet and loving like her dam, also a very sweet black mare LITTLE Q DARK RAIN.

OPHELIA is the 3rd pitch black REBEL daughter. She is 4 and 31". She is a lot like her black dam JELLYBEAN who has we have had since she was a baby. Jellybean has also produced other appys.

JELLYBEAN is one of our original mares. She is now 11 and is really black. She is a direct great grandaughter of ORION. She is a great mom and has given us 7 great babies, 3 appy foals, 1 black foal and 3 black fillies. Just a great mare all around..
