TAILWINDS STALLIONS
In a determined effort to expand our appy bloodlines,
we sold 2 of our stallions and bought a new appy boyRUNNING CREEKS SPOTTED ILLUSION. As a result
of our own breeding program, we also have our own "sons"
JACK and YDNAR. JACK got his first mare in 2010 and Ydnar will join the breeding program this year. Exciting times in 2011. Click photos for more pages. |
RUNNING CREEKS SPOTTED ILLUSION LITTLE DICK, as we affectionately call him, arrived from Colorado on Easter Sunday 2009. He measures 31.5". He is now 5 and carries many possibilities for producing appys. His pedigree includes Orion, Toyland Zodiac, Warners Little Apache and Del Terras Jim Dandy - all stallions well known for their appy genes. He really enjoyed his breeding debut in 2010 and is really good with his mares. His first Tailwinds foals arrived in 2011. |
TAILWINDS APPY JACK JACK is the result of breeding SMOKER, a leopard appy, to our JELLYBEAN, a black ORION granddaughter. JACK has a great head, incredible tipped ears and a superb gentle and co-operative attitude. He is 33.5" tall. His first foal, a filly named MI AMORE out of our champion MINI MIA arrived in 2011. |
TAILWINDS YDNAR THE MAGNIFICIENT YDNAR on APRIL 15th is still only 28 1/2" tall. He is straight and correct and has a nice shy disposition. Very friendly and cooperative, he is truly a great little appaloosa future herd sire. There are few like him around and we look forward to breeding him in 2012. |
| POKERBUCKS is a 2008 foal out of our appy SASSY and our buckskin NUGGET. His mom died right after the birth and he was bottle raised with a lot of help from LUCY and her filly SPARKLE who slept with him at night and kept him going. He has grown into a very nice boy. He is very calm and quiet and has the lovely, gentle disposition of his great grandsire BUCKEROO. NUGGET too passed away in 2011, but POKERBUCKS will carry on their great tradition. |
PAST SIRES AT TAILWINDS |
|
| These sires have had a direct influence on our breeding program by either fathering our babies or their mothers. REBEL produced the black mares Alberta, Ophelia and Esmeralda (all out of black or black & white pinto mares). SMOKER produced the appys Sparkle, Ydnar and Eye Candy out of appy mares, Jack out of a black mare, and the blacks Cinderella, Missy and Mr Cool out of appy mares. So most of our new sons and daughters are appaloosa or black and at least half appy and should produce color in their own foals. | |
SILVER SAGE REBEL REBEL is a 32" appy stallion. His genetics out of Tchinook Warrior and Toyhorse Domino almost guarantee some appy babies. A real talker, he showed Top 10 in Reno in 2003. He throws very straight, correct foals and produced many good ones for us. Many of them also show APPY characteristics and we have bred his daughters to Appy in 2011. Look for the results in spring 2012. |

IMPRINT U BET I GOT SPOTS "SMOKER" is a terrific black leopard APPY stallion belonging to Imprint Miniatures. His lineage goes back to Menelek from England. We can never thank Randy and Darcy enough for allowing us the privilege of having Smoker breed some of our mares. He is a truly wonderful boy, great nature and a real pleasure to be around. We miss him. The results were awesome. Jack, Sparkle, Ydnar, and Candy are all thanks to Imprint's generosity. |
IMPRINT GOLDS LITTLE NUGGET IMPRINT MINIATURES was also the source of our great joy NUGGET. He was the "little" brother of DENALI and produced many fine foals for us. His nature was incredible and he was such a great boy to be around. NUGGET passed away in the spring of 2011 and is greatly missed. We still have some of his foals. |
